Rwanda Revived! Evangelism Rebuilds the Church.
On a visit to Rwanda in 2014, I was struck by how open the people were to the gospel. They still suffered from the pain of the 1994 genocide that ravaged their small East African nation.
Everyone was affected and hurting. But thousands of Rwandans were meeting Jesus the Healer. Every day I observed my host, Pastor Emmanuel Ngabonziza, approach strangers and begin talking to them about the Lord. Numerous times, people repented of their sin on the spot and prayed to receive Christ.

(Pastor Emmanuel shares the gospel with a group of young men in a marketplace in Kigali, the capital city. Several of the young men prayed to receive Christ.)
I left Rwanda extremely hopeful about the work our missionaries and Rwandan pastors were doing together. Now fast-forward to today. Across Rwanda’s 30 districts, the gospel has been preached and 179 Assemblies of God churches planted in 24 districts. The other six are being aggressively targeted for evangelism. Also, my very evangelistic friend, Pastor Emmanuel, is now the Rwanda AG General Superintendent.
Just as Light for the Lost provided missionaries with evangelism resources during Rwanda’s post-genocide church replanting effort, we will continue to do so in future. Missionaries Nate Lashway and Scott Hanson have asked LFTL for funds to provide numerous print and digital resources to help evangelize, make disciples, and train a new generation of soul winners.

(Those raising their hands are declaring their decision to follow Christ! A new church is born in their village.)
Nate Lashway says, “Bishop Emmanuel is one of the most evangelistically minded people I have ever encountered, and now, as the General Superintendent, he has instilled this same passion for the lost into everything the church is doing. The church in Rwanda is helping people to find healing from past trauma and moving Rwandans from a dark past into the light of Jesus Christ.”
